Hey Leanne, welcome to the site :) In answer to your question I didn't really have a reaction to being told as I had no idea what ms was! That was over 5 years ago now (but apparently had it 8 years before I was diagnosed). Since then I've had various ups and downs emotionally and physically, that said I absolutely believe life and ms is what you make of it. Yes it's there, but it's not 'you' and life very much goes on and is there to be enjoyed. If you ever want to ask anything or feel free to email me or I'm on face book. Look after yourself hun xx

Hello there, I think your reaction is perfectly normal, I wasn't too bad when I was first diagnosed (I'd had an isolated episode of optic neuritis previously and was aware of the MS connection) but I have had ups and downs with relapses and starting treatment over the years. I'm the kind of person who likes to plan stuff so getting used the unpredictable nature of MS has been hard, but I've come to quite enjoy taking one day at a time. Happy to chat anytime, Daisy x
