Tysabri and cold sores
So I just had my second cold sore of my life. Did some reading and come across tysabri can activate a dormant infection and around 80% of the population get them in general. Then I got an email from biogen(tysabri) and one of the side effects is cold sores/herpes can kill you if on tysabri? I’d have imagined the docs would have briefed me on this or tested for it. Anyone else deal with this and get an answer?
Dont worry you are very well looked after on tysabri. If you were to develop any new symptoms associated with this your ms team will know what to do. They test your john cunningham virus level when on tysabri. If it started going up they will inform you. I still took tysabri for years after I became positive for this. I am also sure I probably have the herpes virus. If you have concerns talk with your ms team. There are newer treatments you might be able to switch to. Mainly dont worry. Your chances of any of this becoming serious is very very small.
