MS - stories, reassurance

Hi there! I am a Speech and Language therapy student in the UK. As part of our course we have to design a leaflet that discusses MS. Currently I have read lots of articles and books in regards to the physiology, symptoms and treatment. However I don't want to get away from the fact that it's not just about the biological side but about the individual with MS. When I came across MS Shift I liked the positivity the website demonstrated, despite relapses and difficult times with MS. I must be sensitive but informative about MS. Therefore I don't want to just state all the symptoms and treatments which may trigger anxiety, but I believe it may give readers reassurance if I balanced this with a personal story or thoughts directly from someone with MS. This leaflet is not going out into the public because it is part of our assessment. Would you be able to help? Many thanks Nichola

Hi Ripley, Depression has plagued me since I was a child. I was very "clumsy" and fell a lot too. Obviously that was MS...I read an article that had a list of all the different kinds of doctors anybody with MS should have in their circle of doctors in their healthcare team. One was a psychiatrist...between my depression and the added depression steming from the Avonex I took over 20 years, this peaked my interest. Turns out that besides treating my PTSD anxiety and depression, he also treated my cognitive issues and my fatigue! He brought quality back to my life. He retired on me but he was a rock star in my eyes!

@Ripley

Thanks Sonya
