MS sciatica
Hi everyone. I have RES RRMS and experience a lot of pain daily, mainly in my back and legs but can even happen in my arms which is happening more and more. For a while, a pain has been creeping up on me. It is the worst pain I have ever experienced and that is saying a lot!
I have particular trouble with my right leg in the fact that I have severe spasticity and tremor which no medication seems able to control (another matter entirely!).
More and more often, the back of my thigh seems to get this intensely sharp pain. It is so bad that I can't move it from that moment on, while ever it is there, otherwise it causes a whole load more pain and the pain already is unbearable. It lasts for hours and then eventually goes but then I am left with incredible soreness of that area and then the whole leg is sore.
It is getting a lot more regular now.
I was talking to another MS friend and she said she experiences something similar, explaining that hers only lasts moments but the pain she described more or less matched mine. She described as like sciatica.
Can MS cause this really?
If so, as this is getting worse, is it classed a relapse or just the development on symptoms?
I am interested to hear if anyone else experiences this pain? It is a bloody pain in the arse (pardon the pun!)

Hi Chloe....I get an overall nerve pain now and then, and regularly get sharp pain in my left leg especially during the evening and at night. I was rushed into hospital twice with this because my pain was so intense I fainted. They gave me oramorph, which is a fab quick fix but not an everyday medication....have you tried Baclofen or Diazepam to relax the muscles and nerves? My GP advised me there are new meds on the market for spacicity and tremors...have you explored them all? I used to work in a Physiotherapy unit a long time ago....I know physio exercises are good for this....demand to be referred or go private x
Hi @teddy1. Thanks for your reply! That sounds awful. Thankfully I haven't fainted with it yet. I have been having physiotherapy for a year and sadly the exercises aren't helping with that. Any exercises on my right leg send it into crazy tremors. I do go swimming as that's the only form of exercise I can do. I have tried all muscle relaxant medications except diazepam. I am due to be moved onto this as I am coming off carbimazepine at the moment. I seem to be an odd ball really. My neuros and Ms nurse have referred me for cbt to try and find coping strategies for coping with the pain and my the severity of my symptoms. X
