How long were you able to work post your diagnosis?
I am a single parent and I need to take care of my family. Job is the only way and we don’t have disability benefits. I know MS is different for every person but I want to know how long were you able to hold on to your job post your diagnosis with MS
@SamJam I was able to work a couple of years after diagnosis. Saying that, I was signed on and off for those couple of years then realised it would be better for me if I retired, cause I was only getting worse. As you say, MS is different for everyone. If you can, get all the information you can from your work re: medical retirement and get someone to help with the whole benefits thing. I had to ask for help for all of the above because, like most people, I knew nothing about MS and the possibility of disability. Hope this helps 😊
Hi, I gave up work pre diagnosis, because I was sooo fatigued. I now wish I could go back to work. I guess do what feels right for you. However, an income is super important. Perhaps the neurology dept you attend could advise or a MS charity. Good luck for the future.
