“Rest more”
Hi all ☺️ I’m just looking for advice/guidance/a listening ear I guess. I’ve found since moving into SPMS all I seem to be told is rest more. Do less. I already can’t work, socialising is limited because of migraines, fatigue and cognitive issues.
I’m just finding myself frustrated because I don’t understand what else there is to cut out/minimise???
I try to have good sleep hygiene etc but I just feel like I’m doing something “wrong” when I’m constantly being told the same thing?
Any kind words or insights would be very appreciated
You are doing nothing wrong asking your body & mind to work together after yrs of them obviously giving each other the silent treatment is a hell of a thing it’s a constant work in progress so don’t beat yourself up. Occupational therapists recommend diaries so that you can identify patterns and make adjustments sounds long boring and frustrating but it will help eventually e.g 12 pm had orange banana and an yogurt 12.15 had to have lie down fatigue, 1pm had 2 painkillers etc etc and rest comes in all different packages there’s rest for mind, muscles, mood etc check out utube for short vids progressive muscle relaxation, Stopp technique, ms gym, Iyengar yoga, AMSR, meditation etc It’s all a learning curve find what works for you and take care of you & yours always 🤞✊💪👍☘️😊
@Regan Are you on a DMT (disease modifying therapy)? If not, please consider doing so. The drug will slow down the progression of your MS and give you some stability. Then adapt, adapt, adapt. There are several neurologists on YouTube - Dr Aaron Boster and Dr Brandon Bieber (a bit clinical). They have some useful advice on managing your MS symptoms. All your symptoms you have listed can be dealt with, so write all your symptoms down, pick the top three and see what your neurologist/healthcare team can suggest in dealing with them.
