@Rebeccak First question, yes, as has been discovered in other countries, the contents of your variant may be different to the patented drug (Gilenya). There was a test done in America where they checked the contents of several fingolimod tablets from different drug companies, and the contents of each of the tablets varied differently, and did not match the components found in Gilenya. Second question, yes, as you should be monitored if you are coming off fingolimod. Stopping the drug can lead to relapses. It's not something you should be stopping by yourself. Please talk to your MS healthcare team if you are worried about the DMT you are currently on.

@AndreaG I’m not stopping the DMT intentionally. I ran out of my treatment. Because Gilenya is so expensive I used to take an Indian variant that proved very effective. But my supply ran out and the supplier scammed us. So I am currently on xantiva and I don’t feel good.
