Depressive state, headaches and falls
Hi all. I guess these is a bit of venting out. Would also like to know if you have similar experiences.
Sometimes I have headaches, but they don't feel like common headaches. They're more "neckaches". Only left side, close to cervical spine, but go to the nape. This pain is not excruciating it's mild but very present (when it comes) and similar to some lesion one make when exercising. It seams located in my neck muscles, on the left. So annoying :( Anyone has such a thing?
I also took three falls, for silly reasons. Turning back too quickly (fist); I lowered myself and when I returned to the vertical position I lost my balance (second); I went up one of those stools that serve as a step in the kitchen, and felt dizzy (third). It made me feel sad, 'cause now I'm afraid of going out alone and fall out on the street. I'm very independent... or maybe I should start thinking that I used to be but not any more.
And last but not least, I sometimes feel depressed. It's not always, it's like a deep sadness that comes and goes. I'm taking antidepressant pills, but only started one week ago after my last doctor appointment. Can't say yet if they work or not. Hope they do, I like to feel positive and happy. MS is a monster but it never made me feel sad, I have been more like a warrior. I know I can't help or defeat this disease, but I can "not let it make me down" just accepting - and being strong while accepting - whatever may come. That's the mood I need to come back!
Sorry for venting out.... :(
@jamandbread , venting is one of the reasons for this Forum because we understand what you are saying. Falls can dent your confidence, so you may need to adopt a way of re-establishing of the confidence. Indoors you just have to be careful, but outside, have you considered acquiring a stick? It's not an easy decision to make, but it might make you more comfortable. Even consider a collapsible stick, so that's it available in case of a wobbly moment. I wouldn't want to comment on the headache. I'd be tempted to consult my Doctor, to try and eliminate non-MS causes.
@stumbler Thank you for your kind words about venting :) I considered acquiring a stick, specially because the two first falls were outside. But I guess I would have fallen anyway, as I would when I fell at home. For now I just have to be careful and aware that I don't have the same capabilities I used to. I can't make sudden turns and bow down just like before. You're right, it's not an easy decision to make and the collapsible stick can be a good way of getting adapted taking my time and according to needs. Thank you for the tip! Are the headaches unusual in MS condition? I know this disease has "1000 faces", but thought this symptom was kind of common. But generally I'm OK, so not very well informed about what is common and what is not...
