Extreme fatigue

I’ve always thought I didn’t need any support because I can be independent all the time. But these days I have extreme fatigue and trouble concentrating. So I decided… tomorrow I’ll ask for a certificate of exemption from university lessons. It makes me nervous to talk about it with strangers, but I have to. Can anyone else share their experience with college studies and illness? Thanks.

My university has disability services where I was able to sign up for extra support, they provided me with a notetaker that attends all my lectures and sends me notes at the end of each day. I was blessed with the course I'm in now as the days are short and I don't have many classes. It's definitely so difficult studying with MS especially when MS affects your memory and the additional fatigue but make sure you tell your course coordinators what you're struggling with, they'll provide you with any help you may need.

I know what you mean about being independent (I am too)... I struggle with mild aches and pains down my left side (residual damage from my last relapse) numbness and tingles in left hand and foot and defo identify with the fatigue and brain fog... trouble is because I manage to carry on as normal and cope with these things the general people around me at uni and now at my new job since qualified don't even realise I have MS! I almost feel guilty or like I don't deserve to mention it cos there are people who have worse symptoms than me... I worry what people will think or that I'm playing on my disability 🤦‍♀️ so I don't mention it and just sometime struggle or suffer in silence... I'm quite newly diagnosed (June 2022) and not sure whether I'm just still adjusting to the social dynamics of it all x
