Why not exctly?

So I was diagnosed over 2 years ago with SPMS, when treatments/meds were mentioned the Doc said I was not able to have DMT's as I take Insulin for Type 1 Diabetes but, it was not explained to me exactly why not. Any help any where.

@peterfrancis , I'm not expert in Diabetes and not medically trained. But from an MS perspective, there are no Disease Modifying Therapies (DMTs) that are approved for Secondary Progressive MS (SPMS). However, it is the actual transition from Relapsing/Remitting MS (RRMS) to SPMS, which confuses me somewhat. SPMS is when our MS becomes predominantly progressive. I say predominantly progressive because ALL MS variants are progressive, even RRMS, although the relapses and remissions with RRMS tend to cloud the progression. So, SPMS is when we progress, but this can include relapses, just no remissions. Now, DMTs should reduce the frequency and severity of relapses, so why are they not approved for SPMS with relapses? That's more rhetorical, than needing an answer. So, are you not considered for DMTs as they are not approved for SPMS, or were you not considered as they interfere with the Diabetes or Insulin? That's probably a question for your Neuro............ I hope my rantings have helped a little bit.

@stumbler Thanks for the reply, from what I recall at the time my Diabetes was the main focus of the all too brief dicussion... one sided discussion I should say.
