Relapse after 5 years

Hi, so right now I’m currently going through my first relapse in 5 years. It’s such a reality check, almost believed I didn’t have MS and then bang it hit me again. This time I have total numbness of my left leg and eye pain in my right eye, when that last happened I lost vision that took months to recover 🙁 feeling a little lost to be honest and any support would be amazing. Thank you all in advance xxx

@marazziv , MS doesn’t like to be ignored and loves to come and bite our bum when we least expect it.

Have you been in contact with your MS Nurse since this started?

marazziv, sorry to hear your news, MS sometimes takes us by surprise and brings down to earth, in my case with a thud. I find that the named routes to support are at time slow and sites like this are a great help, if ever you need a shoulder there is always someone on line.
http://www.wholesorts.com is my monthly blog, I find writing about it is therapeutic and gives others an insight and a giggle, my details are listed so feel free anytime you need an ear

@stumbler I haven’t been in touch with anyone yet as in my head I always feel I can beat it, wishful thinking. Really not sure what to do, the stubborn side of me says just keep cracking on with life and it will resolve and the logical is saying just ask for help…. the Joy’s the MS😬😫

@rogersouthall this site has really helped me through some dark times and people like yourself give me so much hope and encouragement. It can be such a lonely place but you are absolutely right, there are some great sites and blogs that really say it how it is but offer some light heartedness at the same time. I will be sure to check your blog out 😊👍 thank you for all the kind words.

@marazziv , contact your MS Nurse. If nothing else, they can update your records.

They’ll probably ask you to have a urine sample tested at your GP’s practice. UTIs can cause all manner of problems to MSers, so they are best eliminated as a cause, or treated.

If a UTI is eliminated, then you might be offered a short course of Steroids, to bring this relapse to a quick solution. It does depend on the impact this relapse is having on you.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Do not let it dishearten you. Its just a temporary relapse, and fingers crossed the steroids will reduce inflammation and help with your vision loss. Stay strong x

I can relate to so much of what you said…denial, feeling that just maybe all your symptoms were a fluke. I just had my 2nd bout after 10 yrs. Same thing partial loss of eye sight, weakness in my right leg, and tired daily. I can so relate to you. I do think taking to a MS Specialist, if anything can ease your mind. I did 2 weeks ago and Dr wants me to redo everything! 22 tubes of blood, scans, memory test, spinal…and honestly at first I was like REALLY !! At times I feel like they dont believe me. Anyway, keep talkin girly it helps;)

@nellycruz firstly thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post.

I was offered an MRI back end of last year on the recommendation of my neurologist, I declined simply because for me I allow things to really play on my mind and had the results of showed new lesions I would of allowed the knowledge to drive me crazy so the way I look at it is….I know I have MS and rather then be tested again for everything, I just follow by body and the signs it gives, right now as I’m so unwell I have had to just take a step back and analysis where I’ve been going wrong. It’s such a journey of ups and downs and learning along the way. Xx
