Hey just wondering if anyone has been put on this ? I started it last week but OMG I can’t get up in the morn, tried taking it earlier last nite and was bedded by 7 and still couldn’t get up this morn …… I am being weaned off gabapentin was on a high dose but not helping with the nerve pain is this just my body adjusting to it or will it always make me Drowsy ? I have kids to put to school in the morn 😬

Thanks

Hi

I’m too on nortriptyline, have been since about March this year. You should take them at least 2 to 3 hours before you sleep, say if you wanted to get up at 7am and not feel tired you’re best taking them around 9/10pm. I was on gabapentin and amitriptyline and I can honestly say I’m in a good place nerve pain wise since starting this medication. Gabapentin is a bugger to come off, you may feel very odd for a while, whilst it leaves your system. I reacted very bad to that and amitriptyline, I really hope nortriptyline works for you!

If you need to ask any further questions then I’m all ears.

P. S it does take a few months to adjust to the right level for you, took me a while but finally found balance.

Hey hun when you mention feeling odd in what way ? Dizzy 🥴 and feeling weird is that what you mean 🙈 ……

Was on 900mg gabapentin 3 times a day and now on 600mg for two weeks plus the Nortriptaline it’s just zonked me but working pain wise

Should I stick with it ? Working at 9am on Thursday and need to be up about 6.15 😫

Thank you 😘 Xx

Well with the gabapentin reduction I had a bad withdrawal, flu like symptoms with a headache. But when starting the amitriptyline, I was very sleepy and not with it at first, but I had fully come off gabapentin at that point, weened myself off gradually. I’ve never heard of someone taking the two at the same time mind. They would not give me anything else until I’d fully come off gabapentin. I’m not surprised if you’re feeling off.

Glad the nortriptyline is working pain wise! Always a plus!

Yeah you’re best taking it about 8/9pm.

God bless.

Been a week now since I started it, my legs feel a bit jelly like 🙈 better than the shooting pains though ….. Xx

Yes that’s the withdrawal from the gabapentin causing headaches. It’s only temporary for sure. And it does get better. It just takes time for your body to adjust also to the nortriptyline so definitely have patience, you’ll get there <3

I was taking some Gaba, 3 300’s a day and didn’t really notice any issues if I forgot to take them some days. i just got the jerky foot in the afternoon ;-0 but I felt like my blood pressure was uneven and just kind of felt icky on and off during the day. A friend of mine is a Dr and was taking it for nerve pain related to Lupus and suggested I try the extended release version and I feel it is kinder/gentler on the body. I like it better. I take it an hour or so before bedtime and then take a Vit C as well at bedtime and am sleeping better with that combo at bed time-

Could ask if Gralise is a possibility. It is non-narcotic so the Dr thought it was better for me than other options
