ESA savings limit

Hello. As we all know the ESA limit is £16.000. Beyond this you are not entitled to this benefit.
What amount of savings can you have before the DWP reduces the monthly amount you get? I think it is £6000. Any savings above £6000 need to be declared to DWP.
Am I correct? Can anybody confirm this for me?
Due to the uncertainty with Brexit I am saving as much as I can. I would be irresponsible not to.
Thank you.

Thanks jen1973g. I was just wondering what amount of saving you are allowed to have so it does not affect your ESA benefit.
Take Care XXX

After 16000 you can get contributions based depends on your history of paying into system.
You won’t get docs dentist paid and you won’t get income based 😀

Hello.
I will never have over £16000 in savings.
What about under £16000?
For example. If I had £12000 in savings, would this affect my ESA as if I only had £1000 in savings.
Google says the limit is £6000.
I just need confirmation on this.
Thanks XXX

Last time I knew if you haven’t paid ni contributions in past you can’t claim if your over 16000 but if you have you can claim contributions based if you got sever disability.
Go on Martin Lewis website he’s a genius.
I’d apply anyway because when your filling in form it will become obvious and worst case they say no .
