Ocrevus

I am taking part in the Star MS trial and have been randomised to begin Ocrevus / Ocrelizumab beginning next week! I understand that it will weaken my immune system, but quite how careful do I need to be? My first infusion is on the 10th and the second on the 24th - can I still socialise with people as normal, or if not, for how long will I need to ‘avoid’ others? Please let me know your experiences with Ocrevus and all I can do to prepare! Thank you :)

Im on ocrevus and i mind myself but not anymore than i used to. After an infusion you just have to really mind yourself for a week after. Hopw this helps

Whilst on Ocrevus we are immunosuppressed. Because it removes B cells and therefore it means we are vulnerable to infection. However, in the first couple of years we have plasma cells which protects us. So, in the first couple of years it can be okay. However, I would still recommend being cautious. I am coming up to two years on Ocrevus and I am a little nervous. Although, I am sure there are people on this site who may have taken it for years with no problem. Ocrevus is a high efficacy drug.
