Working
Did people change their working patterns after diagnosis?
I currently work full time and though it is not physically challenging for me, the commute can be sometimes and at the moment I’m struggling mentally. I don’t think I’ve really allowed myself to process my situation.
I am wondering if looking at dropping to part time is something I may have to consider in the future. However don’t want to take the pay cut.
In the UK, can we work part time and claim a disability benefit to make up the wage we would be losing?
Going to be honest I work the same as I did before this happened (probably more than I should). I promised myself I wouldn't let it stop me or change things until I absolutely had to so until that point I'll keep on keepin' on. No real advice here except to not make any big decisions now if you're still processing. You don't *have* to do anything at any time, you are in control of what happens to your life and how you handle whatever MS decides to throw at you - just do what you feel comfortable and capable of. It affects everyone differently so on a good DMT you could be absolutely grand... I can't really advise on the benefits thing but I frequent this subreddit who are generally very helpful on such matters - https://old.reddit.com/r/DWPhelp/
@jazminfannon Hi Jazmine! I just want to let you know that taking some time to process the situation should be very helpful for your mental state. You need that time for yourself and I think it’ll help you understand YOU even more, you know?
