Can exercise help with pain?

Hi All I am currently getting neuropathic pain in my legs. The doc has upped my gabapentin and in off work for 2 weeks. Ive been resting for 4 days but my pain seems to be getting worse. I used to go to the gym a lot but for over a year ive not been. Any suggestions would really help...thank you

@sarah_irwin , managing pain is a subject in its own right. It's a question of finding the medication that works for you, and at what dose. I know that Gabapentin is safe to take up to ridiculous levels. Perhaps, the higher level will work for you, or you may need to go higher. Pregabelen (Lyrica) is an alternative. Some find it preferable to Gabapentin, but Doctors like to push Gabapentin first. Distraction is another tactic. Neuropathic pain is worse when we have nothing else to "interest" us, e.g. when lying in bed trying to sleep. But, through the day, we can do other things to take our mind of it. I would suggest revisiting the gym again. Just go on a "gently, gently" basis, starting slowly and building up over time. Hope this helps.
