I need to stop painful electric shocks!

I'm looking for someone who has a similar symptom as me. I'm told it's Lhermitte's Sign, but with me it's different. It starts with my eyes shaking, I start feeling electric shocks behind my right ear (extremely painful), then the shocks shoot down my right arm. I cannot figure out what triggers it, and it usually is constant for about an hour. Has anyone experienced this, and can give me pointers on how to deal with it? Thank you in advance!

L'hermittes sign is typically triggered by looking down as it is caused by a lesion on the C7 vertebrae - the upper spine. It is what led to my diagnosis some 27y ago. Typically it is an electrical sensation down the legs and arms. Nonetheless, and you may be surprised to hear this, the way it affects you becomes less intense with time as you get used to it and it is highly likely to change in nature and pass altogether, assuming you have relapsing remitting. It doesn't make it any better now but it may give you something to shoot for, knowing it won't feel as intense or as painful as it does right now. Also, and I can't emphasise enough, meditation/mindfulness techniques are key to dealing with the unpleasant stuff. To be able to master your perception and interpretation of sensation is, believe it or not, a key part of anti-interrogation training. Albeit with MS it is unlikely that you are holding back a secret from a captor! Best of luck. Dom
