HSCT - Identical Twins
Hello All, This my inaugural post (though I have reacted to others)
I’ve seen many posts on HSCT and can ultimately see me going for this. I am an identical twin whose brother does not have MS (I am advised this happens with 75% of identical twins). I have also heard that there is some research suggesting that a lack of vitamin D pre-birth could be factor to explain why some get MS, which makes sense as I was the runt of the litter.
My question is, has anybody read anything about using stem cells from the healthy twin as part of HSCT?
I am meeting with my consultant in November and would like to approach the meeting with as much info. as I can.
( I have tried searching “HSCT” on this site before asking the question)
All the best
Dan
@glawsdan , this type of stem cell transplant is known as Syngeneic stem cell transplant.
Thanks @stumbler, I’ll get to searching more widely using this term. Dan
