Starting Ocrevus & curious

Hey All!

I am going to be starting Ocrevus soon and I am super nervous. I was on Tecfidera for a few years but as a new Nurse, the side effects were too much to deal with. Having infusions twice a year sounds like a dream but I am beyond nervous for the infusions and side effects.

I had steroid infusions before and felt very unwell after, worried about how I will feel after the Ocrevus infusions.

Any info would be greatly appreciated – thank you!

@jami, the amount of steroids infused as part of the Ocrevus Protocol bears no relevance to the amount infused over 3 – 5 days to combat a relapse. So one would hope that any side effects from steroids are minimal.

Ocrevus is a dream. The infusions take a while and I feel uneasy for a few days after but honestly it’s a complete 180 compared to how my sus proms were when I was on rebiff.

@jami
I’ve just had my 1st half Of Ocrevus. I got 125mg steroids IV and my MS nurse said they give 1000mg daily in a relapse. So it’s tiny in comparison.

@jami I get it. I’m a nurse too and like you was one tecfidera for about a year and a half. Other than the flushing, the side effects were manageable for me but it wasn’t doing anything to stop the lesions. I started on ocrevus in march and so far, I’ve been feeling more or less the same (which is basically symptom free other than a stiff left hand). As for the actual process of the infusion, the steroids usually make me feel like crap too but I found it fine! I was pretty wiped out for about 2 days but after a good nights sleep, back to business! hope this helps, feel free to shoot me a message anytime 🙂

I started Ocrevus Aug 2018 & it has helped a lot. Now I’m fighting with SSI to continue paying for the meds bec they are so expensive. I’ve relapse bec I haven’t received my full dosage yet bec I’m trying to get money together to help with this $704 Adminstration fee. Story of my life.

Quick Update 🙂
I’ve had my first infusion (two separate days) & it was a dream! Wow, who knew it could be this chill. I can only hope it does its job and works, if it does, wow wow wow

Thanks for all your response & all the best to get through these summer months 🙂
