Relapse Symptoms

Hi everyone, I am abit frustrated.. I can not find what l am looking for in any MS related sites. Do i have to have a relapse to get steroid injection in other words can i have steroids to dampen down the symptoms I have been experiencing? Thanks
@Mlgilber1

I’m in the US, but my MS nurse did send me for steroid infusions when my symptoms were really flaring up. She did also order MRIs to see if I was having an actual relapse, but I wasn’t. I’d ask your neurologist.

@ItsMewithMS

I can only receive steroids if I am experiencing active inflammation as shown in an MRI. That is what it helps so it isn't given otherwise. When I was first diagnosed (2005) there was a study (Assert study) that was testing if you received prednisone in spurts during the month along with your DMT (Copaxone) if there was better disease control. I was on the study for about a year (taking both or a placebo) but the trial was called off as it was found ineffective.
