blue badge parking scheme

hi all, as a lot of us have a blue badge for parking i have been thinking about the scheme, it seems to me that the scheme encompasses a lot of members all with very different prroblems , but at present we are all lumped together in one group although some are much more disabled than others. I wondered about different classes of badges , depending on your disability. What do you all think, is it a good idea ? , is it workable?

Don’t know if it’s workable. UK is just about to change its rules so it will now include more people, especially children with hidden disabilities so for instance their parents can park close to the park cos they’re not safe crossing roads etc., but I agree that categories might be a good idea but the process can already be long and tortuous so I don’t think it will happen in a hurry👹😜

@hank , from an MS perspective, we suffer from variable conditions, so it would be impossible to classify that.

Also, the scheme is already disrespected and users are judged.

I can’t see any merit in your proposal. Sorry.

Quite agree with @stumbler there. It’s bad enough but ‘grading’ blue badges sounds like a negative thing, a step backwards. I think Tesco has had a good idea in labelling their diasabled bathroom doors with signs saying ‘not all disabilities are visible’ which has got a thumbs up from me.

How would it be policed?

I have a blue badge and don’t want graded anymore than I have to be. It never used to be visible but it is now (just ask the toes of my shoes). Used to walk miles not now, yes I am still ambulatory for a short distance and any grading now could be wrong next week as it is unpredictable so I would be against any form of it. I am disabled (hate that word) and I have a badge, it all comes down to the individual respecting when they need one.

Yeah I don’t think it’s a great idea, it’s bad enough you have to sell yourself to prove your disability. Thats how it felt to me and the woman was lovely, but to be graded on it no thanks @look I got that sticker for the back of my car “not all disabilities are visableq

Hi @sipupermum1983 your sticker sounds like a very good idea!
