Does anyone fly long-haul / travel?
Does anyone fly long-haul / travel?
I love travel and have been lucky enough to travel to lots of places pre-diagnosis (although I definitely had MS on my last trip, I just didn't know about it!)
I'm currently hoping to travel to Japan later this year (from UK) but as this will be my first long distance travel post diagnosis / since starting treatment I'm getting nervous!
I keep wondering what if I relapse so far from home? What if I catch something on the flight since my immune system is reduced?
I've been okay with heat so far, and I don't have any significant physical impairment.
Not asking for advice really, I guess I'm just trying to reassure myself that I can still handle it!

I’ve just been to Australia and it was fine. Took hand sanitizer (frequent use) saline nasal spray (used during flight /dry air) and face masks (used in crowded places with limited ventilation). Had no issues. Take a health insurance. As far as I know they have limited MS facilities in JP so Tele health options with your home neurologist would be a bonus. Select an aisle seat and don’t be shy to ask the cabin crew to move your seat should someone around you have a cold or flu. Enjoy. 🌻
As my neurologist told me, you have to try to live your life as normally as possible, as if you didn't have this horrible disease. So in your case, do travel and enjoy Japan! If anything was to happen, it has one of the best healthcare systems in the world so you will be fine. All the best.
