benefits of cannabis or sativex for m.s

Cannabis is excellent for easing MS symptoms! I use it everyday in many forms. You can smoke or vape it for instant pain and muscle spasm relief but do not feel limited to that! Inhalation is not the healthiest option. You can also take tincture drops sublingually for quick relief or eat an edible that has been infused with cannabis for longer lasting relief. You can even drink it in a water-soluble form! Great if you have liver/digestive issues. Cannabis-infused topicals work wonders for muscle and joint pain and they have no psychoactive effect as they do not directly enter the bloodstream. They even make patches that work wonders while limiting the psychoactivity of THC. CBD is amazing for MS related symptoms, but it really works well with a good dose of THC. They work together on the cell; CBD polices where THC can bind, thus limiting psychoactivity but delivering all the pain relief THC has to offer. CBD has excellent anti inflammatory and mood enhancing characteristics. I take it everyday along with my usual vitamins and meds. It helps keep me on my feet! CBD is also biphasic, which means that it can be energizing in smaller doses and sedating in larger doses. So, best to keep the dosage small during waking hours and increase before bed. But, big message here is that CBD needs THC; using only hemp based CBD will not bring the relief you are anticipating. Best to use both together or find products that contain both already together. Remember, CBD alone or with a small amount of THC may not get you high; but if you're new to cannabis, there is a chance you could feel something as your body develops it's endocannabinoid system. I have used cannabis for years for many different ailments and just for fun. We like to say it is a medicreational drug. But always know everyone is different and reacts differently. Please start low and take it slow; feeling good can turn into feeling bad if you overdue it. Also, growing your own is incredibly therapeutic and saves you so much money. I can grow here legally as a medical cannabis patient, but check your local laws ;) I hope this helps! I also work for a cannabis dispensary here, so if you have any questions or concerns, please send them my way!! My favorite part of my job is talking to others who use cannabis for MS!

I attended a large conference about medicinal marijuana in 2019 as part of my work. They had some interesting presentations on MS. At that point in time the findings were very inconclusive across different studies. My understanding is that marijuana can’t do anything to treat MS itself, but some people find relief for certain symptoms with the use of marijuana. There is more debate about CBD vs THC. One thing that seems to be certain across all research is that CBD needs some level of THC to be effective. I haven’t had a need to use marijuana to treat symptoms myself, but it is interesting none the less :)
