Headache after lumbar puncture

Hi, I had a lumbar puncture first thing Friday morning. I’ve had a really bad headache ever since. Over the weekend it abated on lying down but I struggled to sit or stand. This morning the pain has woken me up and the headache is constant even when lying flat. I’m waiting to ring my neurologist but has anyone experienced this same? Thanks Vicky x

It's nothing to worry about... I remember my first couple of lumber punctures back in the 80s and I was told after the lumber puncture to go and lie down for a five hours so that all the levels in the spinal fluid but sort themselves out or settle or whatever they do.... So I do believe it is something not to worry about this ring your Ms nurse I'm sure it will be fine

Hi, had it done and it was same... Awful headache and I was sick. Had a flight few days after - terrible idea I know but my Dr have said it should be fine. Of course it was a nightmare as I ended up under assistance. So yep definitely it's something normal however I would recommend to lie down, have as much rest as you need and of course let your neurologist know what's happening. Drink plenty of water If you haven't doing this already. All the best! xxx
