Covid

Hi all, hope everyone’s doing ok! Is there anything special I need to be doing as I have Covid? Had an infection last week and then got Covid. Xx

Hi @staceyc. Sorry to hear about this, I’ve had Covid three times and it’s never easy, even with the milder strains. Whether anything special you need to do depends a lot on your individual circumstances, what meds you’re on, whether you have any other illnesses, and how bad the bout of Covid is. The important thing to keep in mind is that if your breathing is going downhill, seek help. If it’s not too bad a dose of Covid and you have enough support to drop your responsibilities then the best thing might be to go to bed, rest and keep an eye on your chest. Then keep a note your symptoms for a while after the Covid ends so that you have a diary that you can show to a doc or nurse if you do need to see them (this can speed things up when you get there, particularly if you’re trying to understand the impact of Covid on your MS symptoms). Depending on your local health service rules or if it’s a difficult bout, then you might qualify for quick access to anti-virals due to your MS, so this is worth checking. For context on my own situation, I have asthma and am on Ocrevus - the fact that I was on ocrevus got me anti-viral access early (but I live in a different country to you) and the asthma got me a bit more attention from medical staff but really it was still a case of waiting for the virus to pass and then keeping an eye on the impact of it for a few weeks after. best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thank you! Yes I have asthma also so have been taking inhalers more often. Haven’t started any treatment yet but this is all new to me so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to contact the MS nurse with. I rang the GP on Friday and they told me to contact the MS team for advise but mine don’t work Fridays so waiting until tomorrow. Thanks for the wishes and advise.
