Finding young adult support group/peers with chronic pain

Hi everyone! With my MS, I have intense chronic pain and I’m finding it difficult to meet people who have significant chronic pain who are around my age. Does anybody know of support groups in my area (Calgary, Canada), informal or formal, that targets young people with MS and who have chronic pain? Or, does anybody on this platform deal with chronic pain and would like to connect one on one? Thank you so much, Sam

Hey @SamLarouche, welcome aboard! I'm a YYC person too, but I'm old enough to be your grandpa. Don't get me wrong, my wife and I are fun to hang out with, and we have a cool cat, but I don't think we're your target demographic. lol Are you part of the Optimus program at Foothills? If you are, phone your nurse and ask for some group referrals. I met some nice people at the fatigue management group and the age range was 20 to 60 inclusive. AHS does a great series around living well with chronic illnesses (https://albertahealthservices.ca/info/Page13984.aspx) and you can sign up for most without a referral. Truthfully, I'm not sure who the target audience is for most of the programs, but there are some that look interesting and will allow you to meet and relate with your MS peers. The MS walk is also coming up at the end of the month (https://msspwalk.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID=898) so there should be a pile of us hobbling around. God help me if there are any hills. Have fun here and try not to doom-scroll too much. :-)
