MS HUG!!!!

HI, I am currently experiencing what I have read to be what is called the MS Hug. It starts at 0200hrs and can last up to 18 hours every day. The pain level is 7-8/10 consistently. I am taking 100mg or Trazadone, 10mg Diazepam, 30mg of 12 hr timed release Zomorph, 10mg Baclofen, 2mg of Melatonin, 1gram of Paracetamol 300mg of pregabalin which I have been on for around 8 days as my Neurologist swapped my 3600mg of Gabapentin for 600 mg of Pregaberlin to see if it would help. I take my meds at 2230-2300hrs and wake up around 0300hrs every morning with the pain. I then wake up every 20-40 minutes afterc that until I get up around 1100hrs but still absolutely knackered. I will be starting my Copaxone injections in the next few weeks. Does anyone know if the Pregabalin takes time to get into my system and if so how long? Also does the Copaxone help with this also? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam.

Hi there, I currently take 2700mg Gabapentin daily and inject Copaxone. 3 x weekly and personally, I didn't get on with Pregabelin, felt it didn't alter or improve anything. However, like MS, no two people's symptoms are the same. As for the 'hug' why they call it that I have no idea, hugs are nice this is not so totally sympathise xx Like any drug, Pregabelin will take time to get into your system and Copaxone is a DMD which should help to slow down the progression of your MS, I was on Rebif when I first got diagnosed but it wasn't as effective after 3 years so switched to Copaxone and so far, so good xx

Hi TigerBabe, Thanks for your reply. I used Pregabelin in March and after 5 weeks I asked the doctor to take me off it as I was feeling depressed! So far so good and it has given me an extra 1-2 hrs of sleep before I wake up in the night so it has improved a bit. I was on Gabapentin for months and felt nothing, but saying that I can eat all the above several times a day and till not feel anything but pain! I just hope the Copaxone will help. Thanks, Adam x
