Tecfidera and hair loss?
So ive been on tecfidera for two weeks and ive started to notice a lot more hair coming out into my hand,hair brush and hair bobble. I have very thick hair so im trying not to panic at the moment. I noticed that ppl had commented on tecfidera and hair loss but didn't really take much notice of it. Can ppl let me know their experiences of this? I know if you google hair loss and tecfidera theres all sorts of horror stories but im just wanting real experiences from ppl on here?
I am having trouble with hair loss while taking Tec. When I took Rebif I kept losing the outer third of my eyebrows, which is a sign of Thyroid trouble. My numbers were alright, when I switched to Tec my eyebrows grew back in with a vengeance, I still have to pluck them every day. I started loosing hair from my temples and general thinning. I went through a bunch of thyroid test and my thyroid is growing nodules and my numbers are high and then low. Doctors tell me I have a bouncy thyroid and there is not treatment for it. I use the generic hair growth treatment on my temples and try not to worry about it. I think the DMD's have messed up my thyroid, but I know not taking a DMD can have far worse results when it comes to my health. Potter
Only when I was taking high dose Biotin and that was caused by the Biotin, not an overactive thyroid (the test came back normal when I stopped the Biotin for two days). But I have a friend who had a really overactive thyroid - her tests came back positive for months. Under control with drugs now. Incidentally, has anyone tried high dose Biotin for hair loss? It made my hair and nails grow much faster than normal after I'd been on it for about three months.
