Fatigue & MS Survey

Hi All,
My name is Callum McGovern and I am a final year student looking to do my project on Fatigue with MS. I chose this topic as my uncle has been living with MS for 23 years and felt that I could look into this area in more depth and maybe create a product that could help him. To start my research I have created a short survey around Fatigue and MS and would really appreciate it if anyone could give up a few minutes of their day to answer some of the questions! The link is below.

Thank you 🙂

Hi @callum_mcgovern, can you tell us which institution you are studying with? I looked at the survey, very quick and easy but would be good to know the source. Thanks!

Hello @vixen. Apologies for not mentioning the institution. I am Studying Product Design at Maynooth University in Ireland. The project is all around creating a product or a specific area and I have selected MS and it means something to me with my Uncle and would love to try and create something that could help him 🙂 Thanks for the message!

I just completed the survey but am uncertain it is very applicable to me. I don’t really have “bouts” of fatigue where I shut down. It is just like I know I can do less physically than I did before and set my expectations correctly and plan around that new reality.

The survey doesn’t differentiate between physical and cognitive fatigue which is the type that likely affects me more. The mind just shuts down as well as the body in certain cases…or they each have their new limits is maybe the better way to put it.

@itsmewithms Thank you for completing the survey! Thank you for your feedback. what questions do you feel I should ask around Cognitive fatigue? Having a better understanding of all aspects would really help!

I suspect it is really hard to measure and acknowledge. This Tuesday I finally have my appointment at Mayo (Rochester US clinic with a strong MS area) for a Neuro Psych review. I will be asking them what assessments our Drs should be doing regularly for cognition impact as well if there are any self-assessments we should be doing. The outwardly visible impact of MS is often obvious to others but the invisible impact impacts some the most. Many of us will tell you cognitive fatigue is a real struggle
