How Gratitude Helps Me Live with MS (Even on the Hard Days)
Living with MS isn’t easy.
Some days my body feels like it’s working against me, and other days, my spirit feels heavier than my limbs. But one thing that’s helped me shift my perspective—again and again—is gratitude.
I don’t mean the performative kind. I mean the quiet, deep, soul-level “thank you” for the little things. The things MS can’t take from me.
I’m grateful for the days I can walk without pain.
I’m grateful for my breath, my mind, my heart that still beats strong.
I’m grateful for moments of laughter, rest, peace.
I’m grateful for the strength I’ve found in myself I never knew I had.
I'm grateful for the natural high due to vertigo(as a past Mary Jane smoker this is probably my biggest plus😂)
I’m grateful for the lessons MS continues to teach me—about surrender, patience, and radical self-love.
Gratitude doesn’t mean I love having MS.
It means I’ve chosen to see light even in the shadow.
It’s my way of taking my power back—every single day.
You’re not weak for having hard days.
You’re powerful for choosing to keep going.
And there is always, always something to be grateful for.
Even if today, it’s just the ability to close your eyes and breathe.
I love this. I tell people that you can choose to live in perpetual darkness and watch life go by or live life each day as it comes to the best of your ability. Give yourself a goal to do one thing per day and it can be as small as washing the dishes laundry or sheets on the bed. Or walking from one room to the next and you'd be amazed that when you accomplish these goals each day how great it will make you feel. We don't want to accept the fact we have MS nobody does with any illness but the truth is we can't get rid of it so we have to find a way to live with it One thing I will say is it does make us see life in a different way and appreciate all the little things that others take for granted.
Gratitude is everything @taelove
