Hi all. My lovely 15yr old was dx with RRMS 2yrs ago. She has gone from being an active, sociable “normal” teenager to spending most of her life trapped in bed. She missed 90% of school last year and is now in her final year with similar prospects. She is in debilitating pain all the time, and sleeps for most of the day. Her consultant has repeatedly told us that MS does not cause pain and to go to the GP. The GP then tells us it must be the MS and has prescribed painkillers. She is quite reluctant to use painkillers and has found they don’t take the pain away (Pregablin/codeine/naproxen). Lately the consultant is insistent it is just mental health and there is no pain. Lose some weight and get out more and it will all be fixed! It is breaking my heart seeing her in so much pain and also living with the depression this dx has caused. I feel so lost with how to help her when the medical professionals are essentially calling her a liar.
