Neurologist appointment

I had my diagnosis of MS they are needing to do a MRI with contrast to see if it’s “active” or not. Depending on what the results show I’ll either be put on the medication or have treatment when need it for example steroids through a drip to help relieve the symptoms. It affects me every day in someway sometimes worse than other days and then I have flare ups. I am curious because I’ve not heard it being called active MS or not but you still have MS, please if anyone has any information about it, would be much appreciated!

Hello 🤗 What they are talking about as active MS is actually active plaques. MS is unfortunately a disease that suddenly relapses. It is very normal to be good one day and bad the next because everyone with MS is like that. I am not saying to slow down your life but you need to avoid too much sudden and tiring movements. You need to give importance to daily walking and sports activities. As for medication, I personally do not find it logical to follow the method without medication. Since it is an insidious disease, it is not clear when we will be active and have an attack.

My interpretation of active is where your having new lesion(s) at the rate of at least 2times in 2 years. The MS Society website has some useful info on the DMDs in laans terms
