First follow-up MRI coming up
I'm a bit nervous as it's been 2 years since my baseline MRI (pregnancy in the meantime). Before my diagnosis I was untreated for 9 years. In hindsight I had optic neuritis and an incompetent doctor.. I'm slightly worried of developing SPMS or having a greater chance of developing it. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Developing SPMS is not the end of the world. There is a fairly good chance if you have RRMS it will eventually develop into SSMS - MS is after all a progressive disease with no certainty how it will affect you in the future. I had RRMS for a number of years which did develop into SPMS. The only real difference between them is that your symptoms don't remit and remain. When I was diagnosed there were no real treatments at all so these days at least you have the chance they will help and delay things. Don't stress too much about being untreated - there's no guarantee they will help anyway. Accept your situation for what it is - at least you are getting treatment now. No point in worrying about things you can't change. Try to remain positive - I've always thought it's half the battle with this dreadful disease! All the best
