I am not a medic so I am not qualified to say. I have just had the "talk" with my MS nurse. The spinal tap (or lunar picture in the UK) can measure antibodies/proteins in the spinal fluid and also Oligoclonal bands. It is a diagnostic tool and can say whether your MS is active or not. I have had two lumbar punctures and they didn't hurt but I can understand why anybody would be nervous.
I am curious since I have been diagnosed with MS for 2+ years and my sister is suspected by doctors she has it as well.
