Wrote a poem about diagnosis, what do you think?
STILL ME by Samantha Derry
Yes, yes, I’ve been diagnosed with MS,
But I am still me, I must impress.
Still the same person I have always been,
My spirit, my soul, want to be seen.
Please don’t look at me with pity, and don’t be sad,
Yes, life will be different now, but it’s not all that bad.
Other people’s best story won’t be my best story.
Other people’s worst story won’t be my worst story.
So whilst you may know someone who has it too,
That’s their story. What will be mine?
I don’t have a clue!
What will the future hold now? It feels scary,
Uncertain, unclear, the symptoms can vary.
My neurologist says the meds now are really very good,
But how will my body react to them? Will they do what they should?
Will I feel ill, need time to rest?
Will I feel tired and not at my best?
Will the meds stop my immune system from attacking my nerves?
Only time will tell; we’ll need to observe.
So for now, I sit trying to digest this diagnosis,
Concerned for the future, with no real prognosis.
But there is a fire inside me that is fierce and tenacious,
Still wanting to live and follow my dreams.
So I’ll keep moving, smiling and loving,
Because maybe things aren’t all as bad as they seem.

I can feel this! Good work by you 💪🧡
Well done 😃 your poem is Fabulous!
