Newly diagnosed

Hi there This is my first post. Great to see this available as support. I had a double vision attack shortly after my partner who at 33 weeks pregnant lost her job overnight as her company went into administration, missing out on a years paid maternity leave. It was a stressful time getting the house ready for the arrival of a newborn and also trying to get enough work to pay the mortgage and bills on my own. I’m lucky to have been diagnosed (RRMS) so quickly but the lumbar puncture showed that I’ve potentially had ms for some time. I’m waiting to start kasimpta treatment but I have to wait for blood tests to confirm whether or not I have MOG disease which is similar to MS. Unfortunately my first MS nurse appointment was cancelled and pushed back until July this year which is disheartening. I’ve been on ms society for advice and spoke to an ms nurse there which was very helpful but I’m concerned that because they’ve pushed back my nurse appointment it could effect me starting my treatment sooner. I have symptoms and am noticing new ones. Remaining calm but I do tend to have worries in the middle of the night and get very upset. My son is a constant distraction though! Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks Ruari

Probably no help but my MS nurse was nothing to do with starting Kesimpta 2years ago. My bloods were done at home by a Kesimpta nurse before she then came and showed how its all to be done. Ms nurse later monitored how i was doing but thats all. Congratulations on baby & please take it from a massive stresshead, dont worry about the money side as it drags you down. Apply for any and all help you can before dealing with extra work, Good luck with your journey

My treatment took over a year to approve, what with bloods baseline then NHS trust has to approve funding. Its a long waiting game Its normal , its not a fast process. I even had my MS nurse retire just before my treatment. Good luck
