Working Full Time
When I was first diagnosed I was working for my uncle (by marriage) who it turned out had MS. I knew that he used a cane but not why. He told me to do whatever I could but not sit around and do nothing.
He didn’t have any advice for me besides that.
I was managing a warehouse and needed to use an electric wheelchair in order to get from one side to the other. After a month I was able to walk and no longer needed the wheelchair.
I returned to normal after another month. But a year later I was again in a wheelchair. Since my uncle understood what was going on with me I was able to continue to work there.
Eventually in a few years I returned to school and became a minister. I was able to work as a minister for 20 years and then learned computer programming and spent the next 20 years as a computer programmer.
I was fortunate that my MS was very mild and so I was able to work full time for over 40 years after I was diagnosed, sometimes with a week or two or more off using annual and sick leave and the understanding of my employers or Boards. I feel very grateful.

I am a big believer in use it or lose it.
