I believe it is done with either a spinal tap or blood work or they can see how much of a certain level of something it is in the blood or spinal fluid. I could very well be wrong because my neurologist is an a****** but that is my understanding

It is somewhat subjective. They will definitely use your MRIs and spinal tap results. But it is also evaluating the pattern of your symptoms.
