Getting used to my New Normal
So I had a bad fall back in mid-August. Broke my nose and got a concussion (I think, because I didn't go to the doctor). My husband put his foot down and took away the walker. I've been in the wheelchair full time since. And it's been a huge adjustment, not going to lie. I've gotten good at managing to get around the trailer. It is sooo not accessible! I can just barely get through thr bedroom door. I can do the bathroom door too, but hubby brings me in there because we don't have grab bars or any place to put them. I'm grateful I can get around, and it's admittedly more than I could with the walker. There's a lot I can't manage on my own. Transferring in and out of bed, getting to the toilet. He has to deadlift me in and out of the bathtub. It rankles sometimes, because of the loss of independence, but I'm mostly over that because it is what it is. I'm grateful for all the things I can do better now.

You are quite right to focus on the positives. It is so hard to transition to a wheelchair - I'm getting to the stage where I need one outside. I'm still trying to get my head round it but I know I will in the end. I was the same about using a stick!
