Infusion

Went in for my infusion of Ocrevus on Friday, ended up fainting when the premeds went in and having a seizure! Doctors said it was down to stress as they struggled to cannulate me & not due to what I was being given. I Was kept in overnight with the aim of doing my infusion today but I came home yesterday & no longer really want the infusion due to the stress and anxiety of the same thing happening again. Has this ever happened to anyone else before? What other treatments is everyone on as feel I need to explore my options again now? Thanks in advance

Stress doesn’t cause seizures. And none of the pre-meds would cause a seizure. It sounds like maybe they think it was a panic attack. They wouldn’t be letting you go for it again if it was a serious reaction. Ocrelizumab is the most effective medication available to you with the lowest incidence of side effects. The other DMDs that are similar in efficacy are Kesimpta (self injection at home) or Tysabri (also an infusion, monthly instead of 6 monthly so doesn’t sound like a good option for you.) You could ask about Kesimpta - you may be eligible for it if you were eligible for Ocrevus. Or you could try Ocrevus again and concentrate on the fact that this medication will stop you relapsing and slow any disability accrual from MS ie. think about what you want your life to look like in 20 years. The other meds carry their own side effects and are less effective.

@mellowmedusa Sorry, should have said - stress doesn’t cause seizures unless you’re already epileptic and your meds aren’t controlling it well.
