These neurologist
I went to see mine I tell her the past few weeks I've been excessively coughing and choking periods of the day and through the night waking me up to take my asthma inhaler or drink something before it stops.. she says coughing not associated with Ms.. I just read that it is there's even a name for it.. she said go to my primary doctor it's probably a cold.. nobody around me is sick and I barely go outside unless I have to.. but I'ma go check for a cold with my primary and if my neurologist is wrong then she canceled I'm trying to get better not develop new symptoms and someone whose supposed to be trained in this is giving wrong info.. this is not baseball 2 strikes and she's out...
I was given to understand that MS can mess with the swallow reflex. I have had, in the past, some mild issues with it and it ends on violent coughing fits, albeit brief. I'd be talking to another MS specialist neuro if I got dismissed like that.
I recently read this article, regarding MS and coughing: https://www.mymsteam.com/resources/ms-and-coughing-managing-phlegm#:~:text=Here%E2%80%99s%20what%20you%20should%20know%20about%20how%20coughing,experience%20persistent%20coughs%20even%20without%20signs%20of%20infection.
