This is a hard one to unpack, so let's dive straight in. 😅 You don't need protein powder to put on good weight or build muscle. Most advice says it's better to get your protein from good quality foods because, ideally, you shouldn't drink all your calories. That said, protein shakes can be incredibly convenient. Protein is easy to digest, especially as we get older, and when you're rushed for time they're an absolute lifesaver. I've been drinking protein shakes for 20+ years. I genuinely feel better when I have one regularly. My personal favourite is a "supershake" (protein shake with a couple of Weetabix thrown in 💪). After a few days I always feel stronger and recover better. Whether that's science, placebo, or a bit of both, I'll happily take it! Food first, shake second. But if a shake helps you hit your protein target, crack on. 👍
