QMC (Nottingham), Sheffield Hospital or Private?

Hello, I was recently, informally diagnosed by my opthalmology consultant with MS, after an MRI scan with contrast showed lesions on my brain (this is after years of other symptoms, pins and needles, brain fog, chronic fatigue etc). I have since moved to a rural area (Lincolnshire) where the waiting time to see a neurologist to confirm the diagnosis is 12 - 18months. Does anyone have any experience of neurology at QMC or Sheffield and which one they think is better please? Going private might be an option for an initial consultation/ diagnosis but only as a last resort.

I am in Notts please let me know if you come to a conclusion, I would be interested in which is best Notts or Sheffield. I have an appointment next Monday with the neurologist at Notts, waiting to be diagnosed.

I was diagnosed in Dec and was seen at QMC. My doctor took ages to refer me but when they did I think they wait was about 3/4 months, so July last year. I saw Dr Sellers who went through my symptoms etc and he booked me in for an mri and a nerve test. The nerve test came through in Nov but when chasing the mri they said it would be in the new year. I had another issue with my legs so emailed Dr Sellers secretary and they expedited the mri. I got one through beginning of dec and saw Dr S 5 days later. Since then after diagnosis he referred me to the new neuro inflammation clinic at QMC and I saw Dr Radu Tanasescu at the end of Jan. he was amazing and I feel very lucky to be in his care. I’m not the greatest fan of QMC after my Dad passed away there but with this they have been brilliant. No experience of Sheffield but I know it’s one of the main centres the starMS trail used for HSCT
