Reoccurring symptoms from previous relapses
Was wondering if anyone has had symptoms from a previous relapse go away & then return during their next relapses. I lost fine motor control in my hands during my last relapse but regained all function after a month or so. I was wondering if I should expect that to happen again if I were to relapse again? I know MS is so different for everyone but is that a common thing for people to experience or do some people have symptoms that never come back?
I have had old symptoms come back or get worse during a relapse, I also got some new ones to come along for the ride! My doc told me that when you have increased inflammation in your CNS it can aggravate the already weakened areas of your existing lesions and cause those old symptoms to re occur. Everyone’s MS is different though. I have persistent numbness from my neck down my arms to my fingertips, making fine motor tasks difficult. I found it was really helpful to go to an occupational therapist that is trained in neurological conditions. They can give you exercises and tools to help strengthen and grow the neural pathways that your brain uses to send signals and will help improve your strength should any symptoms come back. Yes I have had this and it does happen. Yes we are all different but also the same. I have also had attacks on my optic nerve which got better and thankfully I haven’t had problems again. My other more common symptoms have stuck around though
