Newly diagnosed

So after 17 years yesterday I found out I have ms although it’s still classed and probable only because I’m waiting for some bloods to come back. Also because I went private I have to be referred to the neuro inflammatory team through the nhs for them to tell me what type of ms and what treatment I’m going on. I’m currently having a crappy relapse so I’m taking a short course of steroids! Does anyone have any advice or been in the same situation?

Good Morning, and welcome to our “exclusive” club. Have they done the Lumbar Puncture yet? Once they do the blood tests and Lumbar Puncture, they will be able to clarify what “form” of MS you have, and which DMT you’ll respond better to. Kind Regards David

@ALTRMS

I got diagnosed Tuesday and I’m currently on steroids from that day for 5 days!! They have made my sleeping so terrible with my current relapse so it’s hard to switch off and get some decent rest. I’m going through similar at the moment! I’ve had my bloods done which took about 40 mins as my veins don’t like bleeding and they ended up having to use a syringe 🤦🏻‍♀️ I didn’t end up having the lumbar puncture done as they were 100% certain so don’t worry yourself too much about that just yet, as they won’t do it unless they really have to by the sounds of it! Well that’s what advice I was given anyway everyone’s different! They gave me some different options on treatment but they told me to go for the high intensity because I’m younger so they might do the same for you so definitely worth looking into the different treatments so you get an idea of what’s to come! But it does very much depend on which MS they diagnose you with! It’s all very new and lots to take in try not to overwhelm yourself as it’s very easy too but feel free to read some of the comments on my most recent post they might help you too! And it’s okay to cry and grieve your past health the more you let it out the better! Wish you all the best and hope you get some answers soon! 🙏🏻
