Just diagnosed
Diagnosed last week, still coming to terms with it all. What would you all have said to yourselves when you were at the start of your journey? I was thinking of kesimpta, is that a good start for my 1st DMT? Thanks all

Kesimpta is a high efficacy DMT but whether its a good start is very much down to the individuals circumstances - you need the balance of efficacy and tolerability thats right for you. On paper Kesimpta is one of the best drugs at reducing relapses but my neurologist assures me it puts you at much higher risk of infections than medium efficacy drugs such as Vumerity.
First: You are okay! Second: Your future is still bright! Third: There is a ton of emotional support available, here on Shift.MS, and lots of other resources online. Kesimpta worked well for me, for several years. If you are lucky enough to be around for a while, you will end up on several different DMTs over the course of your disease (I’m sure they mentioned you are in this boat with us, for life, right?) Every Disease Modifying Therapy has its pros and cons. Kesimpta had the least side effects, for me, out of: Betaseron - horrible flu like symptoms Copaxone - huge red welts at each injection site Tecfidera - burning sensation throughout body/horrible sweats Ocrevus - Crap gap - 2 to 4 weeks of horrible MS symptoms before and after infusions. Kesimpta - 2 to 4 day min crap gap, definitely more subdued.
