Feeling confused

I have been confused since I was diagnosed with RRMS. My neurologist has not been very informative, simply just knew what was the right way. The past 2 years I have just been consistently getting worse. My last appointment on the 9th he finally mentioned I’m “merging” to secondary progressive MS. As I read about it I feel I have not had the right diagnosis. That’s jus my opinion, but as I asked my neurologist for a referral to a closer neurologist for a second opinion I was quickly canceled from my appointment scheduled last year for my yearly MRI saying he would just keep my meds going. Now I’m even more confused, did I just get fired? This was quite the experience with my mushy foggy brain. Thanks for listening.

I think that is a sign that you were seeing the wrong neurologist. I have 3 separate neurologist when I was first diagnosed. I wanted to make the right decision with my DMT and get a few opinions on the matter. In the end I switched from the neurologist who diagnosed me to the Mayo Clinic. They have a team approach. I can get one appointment and see the neurologist, Physical therapist, occupational therapist, optometrist, occupational therapist, and the social worker in one visit. They were also very good about providing me information. They walked me through my MRI and explained where the lesions were. Which lesions they believed was causing a certain symptom. I would look for a neurologist that specializes in MS. Your neurologist should not have acted in that manner.

@Steve5 I did a lot of research and had the old neurologist send me to one that does specialize in MS. I did waste a lot of time with the wrong one so had to find one that could help me in the better direction. Thank you.
