Hi, I'm new here/MS Hug
There is something I have to ask. I was recently diagnosed with MS after a brain MRI. I need to know what this MS hug is. Please read:
25 years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest there was a moment when he stuffed his little foot in my rib.
About a year later I started to notice intense pain in the same spot where my son had his foot. I use to joke and say it was ghost pain from when I was pregnant.
As time passed the pain became unbearable. It starts in my back, right between my shoulder blades.
The pain then wraps around my chest and is so bad that I can't breathe.
I had one that hit so hard I thought I was having a heart attack and went straight to the ER.
At first the doctor said I was with drawing from drugs and after a scan said I had pancreatitis. My doctor eventually dropped the pancreatitis.
Is this an MS hug?
What you described is the MS hug. The MS hug is a common symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS) that feels like a tight squeezing or pressure around the chest, stomach, or ribs. It can also be felt in the hands, feet, or head. The MS hug is caused by nerve damage that disrupts or blocks nerve messages. It can feel sharp or dull, and can last from minutes to hours or longer.
@marygen16 Thank you. My son, the one who put his foot in ribs, is 25 this year. I can remember first feeling the pain that wrapped around my chest when he was 2.
