1-year anniversary
Today is my 1-year anniversary since being diagnosed. The word “anniversary” is often taken as celebratory, but not today. It simply means that it’s been one year since I woke up to a phone call that shifted the course of my life. I’m realistic and logical, and am embracing it as much as I can, but it doesn’t exactly call for a celebration.
I was lucky enough to be diagnosed quickly and am lucky to have a supportive family, but it’s hard not to feel alone.
I appreciate the community here with my fellow warriors, and wanted to share some of my feelings today.
This is not an anniversary that I wish to celebrate, and I wish I wasn’t going to have one every year
