What does Foot Drop feel like?

Hiya Shifies, I've been having sciatica for the past month or so - nothing new, had had it before and after Dx. But then my ankle started going weird on the same leg. Foot will naturally fall pointing out, and tilting out. It doesn't feel like a "weakness", more like an excess of strength - range of motion is the same as the left foot (checked by GP) though it's painful to go toward the edges of it. So... A spasm? Mighty coincidence, though. So I want to ask what does Foot Drop feel to you? Is there pain? Tension? Or more like a numbness/limpness?

Hi @Will_Berard I guess mine started out with a buzzing / tingly feeling down my shin (tibialis anterior muscle). After walking for so long, it sounded like the front of my foot really struck the ground and could be described as ‘clomping’. These days, it’s with me all day to a varying degree. While walking, I’ll catch my toes and it’s worse going up stairs. The front of my foot catches things. There is some form of numbness in a way around the foot and ankle. My toes typically point inward on my right side (effected side) and there is a limited range of motion trying to rotate it and I’d blame that on weakness. I was told to do some heal walking to help strengthen the muscle but I would have to do that with a stick / pole in each hand these days. I guess I should also mention, it’s messed with my driving. I didn’t feel I could control my foot on pedals so I’ve now changed over to an automatic with hand controls. I also have an ankle brace that I was given by a physio and if you have access to one, I’m sure they would be best to advise. Sorry if this is a little long winded.

No, that's perfect, Confirms my hunch it isn't what I understand of FD. Dunno if it's good news (not a new MS symptom) or bad (unknown, unrelated, uncertain prognosis)
